Message from Incoming Superintendent, Dr. Greg Gero

Posted Date: 06/24/26 (06:00 PM)

Dear South Whittier Families and Community Members,

As I prepare to join the South Whittier School District as superintendent, I want to introduce myself and express my gratitude for the opportunity to become part of this community.

Throughout the search process, I learned about the pride people take in South Whittier schools and the strong relationships among students, families, employees, and community members. I was especially impressed by the community's commitment to "Success for Every Student," and the important role schools play in the life of South Whittier.

One of the qualities that stood out to me is the district's long history of stable leadership and strong support for its schools. That foundation has been built over many years by dedicated employees, engaged families, and community members who care deeply about students. I look forward to building on that foundation and working together to support opportunities for every student to learn, grow, and succeed.

My leadership approach is grounded in collaboration, communication, and a deep commitment to student success. I believe that education is a shared responsibility, and our students thrive most when students and families work hand-in-hand to create a supportive, high-achieving environment both inside and outside of the classroom.

Over the coming months, I hope to visit each school, attend community events, and create opportunities to hear directly from families. I value open communication and believe strong schools are built through partnership, trust, and shared responsibility. I look forward to listening, learning, and building relationships throughout the community.

Thank you for welcoming me to South Whittier. I am excited about the work ahead and look forward to meeting many of you in the months to come.

Sincerely,

Greg Gero, Ph.D.
